After the successful launch of the Pasifika business initiative to reserve an Upper Back of Jersey Position for the 2023 season, interest in joining the inclusive offering has soared. Aotearoa Labour Hire (ALH), who boast a strong Māori & Pasifika workforce, become the second business to partner with Moana Pasifika.
Moana Pasifika Chief Executive Officer Pelenato Sakalia is thrilled at the warm reception the initiative has received. “There’s incredible excitement within Moana Pasifika at the opportunity to promote Pasifika businesses on our global platform and I’m pleased to see so much interest from our local businesses wanting to associate themselves with our brand.”
“We are extremely proud to partner with Aotearoa Labour Hire. They employ a large number of Pasifika people and have a tangible impact in our communities through their employment and personal growth opportunities, ” says Sakalia.
Founded by Managing Director Izzy Whitley, ALH was created to provide New Zealanders with the opportunity to work and grow in the trades industry.
In its infancy, ALH began by providing general labour to construction sites before growing into servicing many sectors including warehousing, civil, rail and now the white-collar market.
Putting integrity and the desire to help people at the forefront of their operations, ALH has provided a reliable solution to people’s labour requirements across many industries and cities including Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Christchurch, and Tauranga.
ALH Auckland Warehousing Logistics Division Manager Michael Pule (Moata’a & Lalomanu) is enthused about formalising a relationship with Moana Pasifika. “ALH is privileged, honoured, and proud to partner with Moana Pasifika in 2023. Pasifika people and culture are ingrained in our identity and are at the forefront of what we do.”
“Much like the flax that provided the livelihood of those that have gone before us, our vision is intertwined with Moana Pasifika – to transform and improve the lives of our people by inspiring and empowering them through opportunity. In our line of work, we are focused on unearthing talent, creating pathways for success, and bringing Pasifika talent to the world,” says Pule.
The ALH logo will be proudly displayed on the back of the Number 9 jersey, worn by Ereatara Enari, Jonathan Taumateine & Manu Paea in the inaugural DHL Super Rugby Pacific Season.
