Taumateine re-signs with Moana Pasifika

Moana Pasifika is excited to announce that savvy halfback Jonathan Taumateine has extended his contract with Moana Pasifika for another season.

The 27-year-old will return for his fourth year with the club.

In 2024 Taumateine was sidelined for most of the season with injury, but when he did return he made an impact.

Whether it was leading the team around the field with his high tempo game or startling defenders with his speedy footwork, Taumateine showcases a creative and skilful brand of rugby.

The Manu Samoa International expressed his desire to be part of the the organisation’s ongoing development, and acknowledged the club’s unique culture.

“I have big hopes for our team here at Moana Pasifika. I want to see how far this team can go and I truly believe it’s going to happen soon,” said Taumateine.

“I love the culture at Moana Pasifika, from singing songs and praying every morning and being able to do it with this group in particular is special.”

Head Coach of Moana Pasifika, Fa’alogo Tana Umaga said: “JT brings experience, physicality and agility when he’s out there on the field. We got a glimpse of that when he was playing for us briefly after returning from injury,” said Umaga.

“He’s worked very hard throughout his recovery so it’s awesome to have him locked in for a full season in 2025.”
