Moana Pasifika partners with Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants.

Moana Pasifika will open their 2023 DHL Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Fijian Drua on February 25th with Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants proudly displayed on the Number 7 jersey.

The professional services firm is another welcomed addition to the Moana Pasifika sponsorship aiga under the Upper Back of Jersey initiative for Pasifika businesses.

Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants is focussed on offering clients accounting and consultancy services and integrated business solutions to ensure they have a business structure that best suits their needs.

The culture at the firm is centred around passion, wisdom and integrity which showed Moana Pasifika Chief Executive Officer Pelenato Sakalia that there is clear brand alignment with the franchise.

“We are very pleased to welcome Johnston Associates in to our Moana Pasifika family. Their motto is ‘creating prosperity with passion and wisdom’ which resonates strongly with us. Our rugby team was always intended to be used as a vehicle to uplift our Pasifika communities and there is no shortage of passion for our culture and our people.”

“This is just the beginning of our relationship with Johnston Associates and we are thoroughly looking forward to working alongside them this season,” says Sakalia.

Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants have secured the Number 7 jersey which was famously worn by Alamanda Motuga and Solomone in Moana Pasifika’s inaugural season. The openside flanker position received plenty of attention in 2022, with Motuga collecting the Rookie of the Year and Best Forward of the Year awards at the Moana Pasifika Awards evening and Funaki also taking home the Best Defensive Player of the Year award.

Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants Director Willy Johnston is excited about partnering with Moana Pasifika.

“Johnston Associates Chartered Accountants is a proud sponsor of Moana Pasifika rugby. As a New Zealand business with a multicultural Team and strong Samoan heritage in our Auckland office and our satellite office in Apia, we choose to actively ‘give back’ by supporting local organisations that provide positive opportunities, and benefit the wider Pacific community.”

“Coming from a history of rugby, we understand the commitment, mentorship and teamwork the sport brings. Values very much aligned with our own work ethic. We wish the Moana Pasifika Team, and their supporters and families, every success,” says Johnston.
