Tickets on sale Thursday 20 January
Moana Pasifika will get their first hit-out of 2022 when they host their pre-season game against the Gallagher Chiefs at Mt Smart Stadium, in Tāmaki Makaurau on Friday 4 February.
The traditional home of the Warriors, Mt Smart Stadium (also known has Rarotonga) will embrace new colours as the New Zealand home base for Moana Pasifika for the much anticipated match between Moana and the Chiefs. This will be the first real chance for fans to see the Moana men in action. The fixture is set to kick off at 6.05pm.
Head Coach Aaron Mauger welcomed the opportunity to play at home before hosting their opening clash against the Blues on 18 February.
“To play our first match together on our home ground is a really exciting occasion. Over the past few weeks we’ve been focusing on building connections, and establishing a tangible connection to Rarotonga prior to our season-opener is vital.”
The match will be played in three 30-minute periods with rolling substitutions to allow coaches to play their full squad and trial various combinations on the field.
“We’ve come together well as a team at training and to play against an experienced side like the Chiefs will give us an indication as to where we are at in our preparation,” says Mauger.
Moana Pasifika season members are invited to attend the pre-season game with entry included in their membership.
Tickets for the pre-season match go on sale this Thursday, details to be advised on Moana Pasifika’s website: www.moanapasifika.co.nz.
