
Over 2700 people attended Moana Pasifika’s Netball Festival on Saturday 18 October 2025, surpassing the number of people who attended the inaugural event in 2024 by over 1000.
50 netball teams of all ages and skill levels competed in the tournament which was held at the Auckland Netball Centre.
The teams came from all over Auckland and beyond with the furthest travellers being the Bay of Plenty team and Hikurua who travelled six hours from up North for the event.
Hikurua’s trip was well worth it as they were up runners up in the mixed social category, losing to the Cook Islands team who were named champions.
There was also a team from the Auckland Deaf Society who took part in the tournament.
It was an awesome day of celebrating the community, Pasifika pride and talent all in one place.
Other winners included Moana Pasifika who won the Under 18 category with Kuki Kiva-o-te-rangi coming in second place.
The Pasifika Vinaka team were crowned winners in the Under 16 category and the Heilala Flame Tonga team were runners up.
The Pasifika Stars were the victors in the Under 14s category and Moana Pasifika were runners up. Then in the year 7 & 8 group, Pasifika Stars were also named winners beating Teine Toa who placed second.
Moana Pasifika’s next sports community event is a Leaders Wellness Workshop happening next Friday.
