Danny Toala is an entertaining player and a mainstay of Moana Pasifika returning for his fourth year with the team.

He has been a highly regarded prospect since High School. The National Top 4 winner with Hastings Boys was signed in 2019 to the Hurricanes, making his Super Rugby debut in Johannesburg.

In 2016 and 2017 he was part of the Hurricanes Under 18 squad. Since 2018 he has been signed to the Hawkes Bay Magpies. After three years in the Hurricanes set up, he signed with Moana Pasifika for the 2022 season.

Coming off the bench in 2022, he scored a memorable try in the fifth minute of golden-point extra time to clinch Moana Pasifika’s first-ever Super Rugby win, beating the Hurricanes 24-19.

Toala also has extensive experience playing on the international rugby stage. He has represented the New Zealand Secondary Schools side, the New Zealand Under 20s team in the 2019 Oceania Championship and Manu Samoa.

The elusive utility has been a key member of the Moana Pasifika backline, slotting in to multiple positions whenever needed.
