Allan Craig was born and raised on a farm in Ahipara, south of Kaitaia. He has two younger brothers – Dylan who plays rugby for Mid-Northern and brother Sam who is a pig hunter. He and his partner welcomed their first child in 2025.
He attended Whangārei Boys High School and was captain of the 1st XV.
Craig plays for the Northland Taniwha and was part of the Blues wider squad in 2023. In the same year he also captained the Mid-Northern Premier side to back-to-back titles.
Craig was called into the Moana Pasifika squad as a replacement player ahead of Round 1 of the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season. He made his debut against the Highlanders.
He was named the Moana Pasifika Niu Rookie of the Year in 2024 following a breakout inaugural season.
At just 21, Craig stepped up to the challenge playing in 13 of the team’s 14 matches and played a total of 827 minutes. He was fourth equal with Tom Savage for minutes played, only behind Jacob Norris, Julian Savea and Sione Havili Talitui. In 2024 he made 93% of his tackles and owned the lock position.
