All Blacks Vice-Captain Ardie Savea joins Moana Pasifika for his first season with the club. A generational talent, dominant ball-carrier, bruising tackler and an inspiring leader.
Born and raised in Wellington, the 2023 World Rugby Player of the Year attended Rongotai College where he was Head Boy and Captain of the First XV.
At 18 years old he made his provincial debut for Wellington. He went on to debut for the Hurricanes in 2013 and was made captain in 2021.
He earned his first All Blacks test in 2016 when he debuted for the All Blacks against Wales.
In 2021 he captained the All Blacks in their historic 100th test against the Springboks, and at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Off the field Savea has a passion for content creation, often vlogging his day and giving fans insight to his personal life. He launched a clothing brand with wife Saskia in 2017 and is also a mental health advocate.
Savea is a proud father of three and the younger brother of Former All Black and current Moana Pasifika back Julian.
