Dominic Ropeti attended Scots College in Wellington where he was part of the First XV and helped them win the 2019 Premiership against St Patrick’s College.

Ropeti plays for the Wellington Lions in NPC. He has played for the Oriental Rongotai in club rugby and before this was with the Old Boys University Club.

The loose forward was captain of the Wellington Under 19s team in 2022 and was part of the Hurricanes Under 20s team that made the Super Rugby Under 20s final against the Blues in 2023.

From there Ropeti was named in the New Zealand Under 20s team.
