Ofa Tauatevalu is a proud Tongan hailing from Tairāwhiti, Gisborne.

He worked as a teacher aide at Takaro School in Palmerston North. His brother Andrew has played for the Hawke’s Bay Magpies since 2024.

The towering lock was an impressive prospect coming out of Gisborne Boys High School where he played for the First XV. He also played for Poverty Bay while still in school. While playing for Kia Toa RFC, he garnered attention from the Hurricanes.

He went through the Hurricanes Development system and has played for the Manawatū Turbos in the Bunnings NPC since 2021.

Tauatevalu made his Super Rugby debut in 2025 for Moana Pasifika in their 34-29 win over the Highlanders in Dunedin. He played 17 minutes, winning two lineouts.
