Ola Tauelangi grew up on a farm in Ballarat, Victoria in Australia. He only started playing rugby when he was 16 years old for St Patrick’s College First XV after being spotted at a men’s club rugby training. He was inspired to get in to rugby while growing up watching his brother play.

Tauelangi spent two years at St Patrick’s College Ballarat before joining the Melbourne Rising Academy program. He was also selected to the Melbourne Rebels Academy in 2019. He went on to represent Melbourne Rising’s National Rugby Championship team that same year, making his professional debut, while also playing for Melbourne University.

He went through pre-season with the Melbourne Rebels ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season where he got the chance to face the Sunwolves.

In 2020, Tauelangi moved to New South Wales and played for Gordon RFC in the Shute Shield from 2020 to 2022. His performances for Gordon earned him the attention of the Waratahs who invited him to train with the side in pre-season. He trained with the Waratahs in 2021 and 2022, before being called into the side as an injury replacement in 2023 ahead of Round 12 of the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season. He was named on the bench against the Rebels and featured in the final minutes of the game.

In 2024 Tauelangi joined Moana Pasifika on a full-time contract and made his debut off the bench against the Fijian Drua in Super Round on March 2, 2024 in Melbourne. He played 11 matches, showcasing his tremendous work ethic which has served him well throughout his rugby journey.

On July 29 2024, Tauelangi was named in the Auckland squad for the 2024 NPC season. He played his first game for the province against Wellington on 9 August 2024.
