Sama was born in Auckland and grew up in Sydney, Australia.
After lighting up the 2023 Rugby World Cup, finishing as Manu Samoa’s top tryscorer, Malolo was signed by Moana Pasifika for the 2024 season.
In his first season with Moana Pasifika he captained the side against the Chiefs in Culture Round. He also did the honours of leading the pre-match challenge, Le Fa’avae.
He played three years in the Major League Rugby competition, running out for the Utah Warriors and San Diego Legion.
The explosive front rower is known for his dangerous running game which has become a key feature of hookers in rugby today.
Malolo is everything you look for in a number two.
He is a hard worker with a winning which shows through the unique journey he took to get to where he is now.
In 2022 he walked away from rugby completely and worked as a sign installer, going up building and assembling big vinyl billoards.
In 2023, while playing for San Diego he caught the eye of former Manu Samoa Head Coach and current Moana Pasifika Backs and Skills Coach, Vaovasamanaia Seilala Mapusua.
