Tevita Latu is a dynamic midfielder who is a proud Tongan. He attended Pakuranga College in East Auckland and became their first NPC player when he made his debut in 2020.

He made his NPC debut for the Southland Stags in 2020 in a win against Hawke’s Bay. Latu then joined the Northland Taniwha for the 2024 NPC season. In 2025, he won the NPC title with Canterbury in their 36-28 victory over Otago.

Latu has also spent time as an injury replacement for the Highlanders.

Before breaking onto the rugby scene, Latu was a standout basketball player earning a full ride basketball scholarship with the T.I.P Engineers in the Philippines. He was Pakuranga College’s first student-athlete to accept a University Scholarship for basketball, and got many offers from several US and international Colleges.

He was captain of the Open Boys basketball team at the College and was a 5x MVP during his time at the school. Along with this, Latu won two Counties Manukau Secondary Schools Open Championships and a Under 19 Representative National Championship as a member of the U19 Auckland-Counties Manukau team.

Latu was also part of Pakuranga College’s first ever team to reach the Secondary Schools National Basketball Championships in 2014.

He was also achieving amazing things in school as a House Captain, and on the rugby field as a 2x 1st Rugby Player of the Year and earning selection in the Under 18 Blues Wider Training Squad.
