Lock
Inspirational lock Tom Savage hails from Havering in England. He is a juggernaut on the field with his ability to dominate opponents with his robust build, devastating hits and hunger to win possession.
The 36-year-old made his way to New Zealand in 2024 after eight years and almost 200 appearances for Gloucester Rugby in England’s Premiership competition. As well as four years in Japan for the Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath.
In 2025 he was the only Moana Pasifika player to take the field in all 14 games, playing for a total of 809 minutes and showing his incredible endurance.
Savage moved to New Zealand with his wife and two daughters who have embraced the unique Pacific culture at Moana Pasifika. He has become affectionately known as ‘Tomasi’ by Moana Pasifika fans.
Savage’s tremendous leadership skills have earned him the trust and respect of his teammates. During one of Moana Pasifika’s most memorable games of 2025, Savage stepped up as captain when regular skipper Ardie Savea was injured mid-game, leading the side to its first win of the season against the Hurricanes in round four. He also started as captain three weeks later against the Chiefs in Pukekohe.
In 2011 Savage also led Hartpury RFC to the National Three South West title, and captained Gloucester during the 2013-14 season.
Savage has signed with North Harbour for the 2025 National Provincial Championship season.
