Moana Pasifika partners with TROW Group for the 2023 DHL Super Rugby Pacific Season.

The Upper Back of Jersey Sponsorship opportunity for Pasifika-owned businesses has been very successful with TROW Group snapping up the popular number 11 jersey for 2023.

TROW Group is one of New Zealand’s largest deconstruction contractors, and is a leading specialist in recycling construction waste and civil contracting.

It’s only fitting that the TROW Group logo be proudly placed on a jersey often worn by Timoci Tavatavanawai. The Fijian-born winger has been referred to as Moana Pasifika’s very own bulldozer with the way he decimates opposition defensive lines. He famously beat 57 defenders in his breakout season, evading more defenders than any other person in the competition.

Moana Pasifika Chief Executive Officer Pelenato Sakalia is pleased to partner with an organisation that invests heavily in sustainability and providing employment opportunities for Pasifika youth.

“Moana Pasifika has a clear objective to improve the lives of our Pasifika people by using rugby as the vehicle to make positive change. TROW Group operate similarly where they use their entrepreneurial flair to give back to their community through sustainable initiatives, recycling materials and creating employment pathways,” says Sakalia.

TROW Group has provided over 1,000 tonnes of fixtures, fittings and furniture to community organisations in New Zealand that would have otherwise gone to landfill, and also exports good quality used furniture to schools and churches in the Pacific.

The alignment in vision and values was clear to Pelenato Sakalia. “TROW Group started from humble beginnings and soon developed into an industry leader that has a focus on social outcomes. We are proud to amplify the TROW Group brand on our global platform and look forward to uplifting our communities together.”

Tongan-born Founder of TROW Group, Saia Latu, is proud to establish a formal partnership with Moana Pasifika. “TROW Group is a fully Pacific-owned and operated company, and we are excited to jump on board the Vaka of Moana Pasifika.”

“We knew that our partnership with them was imminent, but only when the time was right, and that time is now. Putting change at the forefront of our collaboration, across all Pasifika communities, is what we strive to uphold. It is about offering a hand up by helping our people transition themselves through building the future while restoring the past,” says Latu.
